FrontCounter BC provides a range of services to the public and to other government agencies involved in utilizing and managing Crown land and natural resources. FrontCounter BC assists clients by coordinating access to tenures, permits, licences, Crown land sales and grants for all the natural resource sector agencies. It is a single window service for businesses and individual citizens seeking information and/or authorizations to utilize Crown natural resources.

The Natural Resource Specialist provides front line service based on general knowledge of various Natural Resource Agencies and other agencies’ legislation, regulations, policies and procedures to clients of the provincial government’s natural resource agencies. In this role, you are the primary first point of contact/case manager for applicants and existing proponents seeking information and guidance on the application process and requirements for multi-authorization projects (simple and/or complex) for use of natural resources on private and Crown land. This includes evaluating submitted applications and helping to prepare application report packages for further review and decision.

Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resource management related field and a minimum of one (1) year of *related experience in a resource management related field, etc.; OR
  • A Technical Diploma in a related field and three (3) years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of *related education and experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and *related experience in a resource management related field.


  • Related experience may include:
  • Experience with natural resource management concepts and interpreting and applying policy and legislation.
  • Experience working positively and respectfully with clients, community groups, First Nations, or other government agencies and industry.


Preference may be given to applicants who have one (1) or both of the following:

  • Experience using mapping tools such as iMap BC, ArcGIS, etc.
  • Experience preparing and/or authorizing natural resource applications in British Columbia.

About this Position:
This position is located in Prince George.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to three (3) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
