Job Title: Staff Educator/RCM

Schedule: Full Time

Position Summary:

Orienting, educating, and training new employees. Inclusive of but not limited to Charge Nurses, Medication Assistants, Resident Assistants, etc. Staff scheduling for nursing staff and assists with specific components of medication room operations. Assuring health services issues of assigned residents are addressed, as well as other service issues that have a potential impact upon the health of residents.

Qualifications:

  • Strong Management Skills, including strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Meet state or provincial health related requirements.
  • Maintain current professional license (RN or LPN/LVN).
  • Maintain CPR and first aid certification.
  • Maintain any certifications as required by state or provincial regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Staff Educator:

  • Educating and training employees through conducting new employee general orientation and regular education and training classes, including all requirements of federal and state or provincial regulations.
  • Assist HSD with staffing and supervising Resident Assistants, Medication Techs and Licensed Nurses.
  • Assure stable staff for both Arbor & Garden Resident Assistants by recruiting, hiring, supervising, evaluating, counseling, and, if necessary, terminating employees.
  • Assure Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants are educated and trained using the available Resource Manuals, assure Resident Assistants are educated and trained in Memory Care Resource.
  • Assure regular competency evaluations of Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants are completed.
  • Develop, Direct and schedule refresher training as necessary for assigned staff and Licensed Professional Personnel.
  • Maintain Daily Assignment system in absence of Resident Care Managers. * Monitor to assure Arbor and Garden Daily Assignments duties are performed.
  • Assure physician orders, laboratory reports, and other data is scanned and filed in resident chart.
  • Assist Executive Director in developing and implementing QA program for in-service training.
  • Ensure that employee files are completed in accordance to community policy, and state/federal or provincial regulations including but not limited to ensuring that all licenses and certifications are current.
  • Order community health services supplies, adhering to health services department budget.
  • Maintain Medication Room files per policy.
  • Maintain Communication Log per policy.
  • Maintain Tracking Reports binder per policy.
  • Maintain Pending Fax Communication System per policy.
  • Coordinate annual flu vaccine clinic.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills in conjunction with Maintenance Coordinator.

RCM:

Perform health services duties, including but not limited to:

  • Completing monthly work schedule for Resident Assistants;
  • Obtaining replacement Resident Assistants in case of absences;
  • Assisting Health Services Director in assuring that Resident Assistants offer services according to service plan and perform other duties according to Daily Assignments;
  • Assure service plan review meetings occur per policy; and
  • Attending service plan review meetings.
  • Assure stable staff of Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants by recruiting, hiring, supervising, evaluating, counseling, and, if necessary, terminating employees.
  • Assure Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants are educated and trained using available Resource Manuals, assure Resident Assistants are educated and trained in Memory Care Resource.
  • Assure regular competency evaluations of Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants are completed.
  • Conduct continuing education and training for Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants as necessary.
  • Supervise Engagement Coordinators to assure optimal development and implementation of Connections activity program.
  • Complete Nursing Assessments and auxiliary evaluations of residents and all other required and/or appropriate evaluations, addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
  • Assess residents, at minimum, upon initiation and completion of alert charting process.
  • Monitor physician orders and assure correct implementation.
  • Monitor laboratory and other test results.

Perform other duties as assigned.
