Staff Accountant

On behalf of our client, Kingston Ross Pasnak LLP is seeking a Staff Accountant for their growing operations.

Inner City Diesel Ltd. (ICD) is a privately owned, proud First Nations company, which is actively growing its workforce and services across Canada. ICD group is your one stop shop for all your maintenance, pumping, dredging, tailings, and fleet management needs!

ICD is looking for a full time Staff Accountant based in Fort McMurray. The successful candidate will provide financial and administrative services to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate financial reporting.

Some responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to:

  • Supports the Finance team in managing the company’s accounting functions, including maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Processing recurring payments such as loans and leases
  • Reconciling and processing corporate credit cards
  • Completing vendor credit applications, vendor set up, and maintaining vendor credit limits
  • Process partnership Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable reporting in accordance with various partnership agreements
  • Prepare remittances for WCB, GST, PST, and Payroll source deductions.
  • Process vendor invoices and employee reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Verify invoices to ensure that they reflect correct pricing, volume, locations and freight or other charges;
  • Ensure that all required documentation and approvals have been obtained for payment of invoices or expenses;
  • Follow up with the appropriate internal and external contacts to investigate and resolve any errors / discrepancies, or obtain missing documentation or approvals;
  • Monitor vendor accounts and reconcile statements to ensure all invoices are recorded and payments are up-to-date.
  • Record purchases against purchase orders and investigate discrepancies, between vendor purchase orders and invoices received.
  • Address and resolve internal and external accounting enquiries
  • Provide department support in team member absences
  • Assist with conversion to paperless environment
  • Assisting with month end and year end duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements

  • One to three (1-3) years of general accounting experience is required.
  • Certificate in Business Administration or Accounting is an asset
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, bookkeeping, and accounts payable
  • A strong understanding of a project-based industry is an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Can multi-task and is comfortable with tight timelines and regular reporting deadlines
  • Maintains a strong initiative and superior analytical skills
  • Solid team player with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of honesty and integrity.
  • Is a team player and willing to assist others and pivot tasks with ease, as priorities can change throughout the day
