Course Description:

General introduction to the ethical, equitable and legal aspects of engineering practice. Topics include the engineering act and code of ethics, employment equity, legal duties and liabilities of the professional engineer, contracts, and the tort of negligence.

Three lectures

Required Qualifications:

Applicants should hold a Masters degree, preferably a PhD, in Engineering or in a discipline related to the subject matter, with an advanced knowledge in the course subject area.Applicants must have a demonstrated background and thorough understanding of the course topics listed above, as well as demonstrated expertise teaching undergraduate courses. Professional Engineering registration is an asset. Strong communication skills and an ability to work with students on a one-on-one basis are essential.

  • Supplemented Fees- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement. The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount. If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.
