Position Description

We’re building a new cloud-native 5G Core and developing automation around it ALL – care to join us?

The Wireless 5G Core Development and Delivery Team is seeking a highly experienced and qualified individual to join our team as Senior Solution Architect. This position will offer the selected candidate the opportunity to learn about new wireless core technologies, all while participating in industry activities, hands-on lab explorations, and production deployment activities. Experience obtained throughout these initiatives will then translate into recommendations and a workable plan for the business and evolution of our wireless network.

Job Duties/Accountabilities

Reporting to the Director - 5G Core Development and Delivery, the Solution Architect will be tasked with:

• Solution building, architecture planning, platform selection, equipment testing, business case analysis, written technical documentation and training course development for other Network Services groups as well as developing synergies with other Bell teams.
• Evolving the current packet core architecture to support increasing data traffic and service demands.
• Improve the packet core network’s reliability, availability, capacity as well as addressing security requirements.
  

The Successful Candidate Must Possess

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

• Educational Background in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Networking, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in wireless communications specializing in packet data and/or IP networking,
• Excellent communication (verbal/written), time management and project management skills.
• Leadership skills with a passion for results and people.
• An understanding of DevOps models, Agile frameworks, and Lean methodologies.
• Able to quickly adapt to a continuously changing work environment.
• Key technical strengths include excellent working knowledge of cellular data concepts, AMF, UPF, SMF, NSSF, NRF, SGSN, GGSN, MME, SAE-GW
• Experience with Openstack cloud solutions, automation, orchestration, Ansible scripts
• Knowledgeable about wireless networking, Wifi networking, DNS, WAN/LAN architectures, layer 2 switching, routing protocols, CISCO/Juniper products, TCP/UDP/IPv4/IPv6
• In addition, the candidate should be very familiar with architecture and protocols defined in 3GPP and should have an understanding of the tools, systems, and security used in the ongoing management of a large complex IP backbone used to support a national cellular network.
  

Preferred Qualifications/ Competencies

• Familiarity with Bell Mobility’s 3G and 4G network services and infrastructures.
• Previous 5G core network experience is an asset.
• Software development skills are a key asset.
• Bilingual (French/English) would be a definite asset.
• Previous experience working within a DevOps or Agile team.
