Purpose

Scotiabank is seeking a Senior Manager to join the GRM Strategic Initiatives team in implementing innovative credit solutions that support Global Risk Management (GRM) and multiple Business Banking units including Global Banking & Markets. The Senior Manager will join a dynamic team responsible for the automation and digital transformation of GRM processes and data collection within the credit adjudication phase of the customer lifecycle. The Senior Manager will be a change agent, required to develop strong working relationships with various partners across the organization and to interact with various levels of decision makers to champion the mandate of the team.


What will you do in this role?

  • Establish strong working relationships with business stakeholders (Banking and Credit), technology partners and other functions (Audit, Enterprise Reporting, Finance, Data Governance)
  • Engage business stakeholders to understand and document current state processes and data needs
  • Apply strategic and critical thinking to recommend future state end-to-end processes and optimal user experience for technology solutions that meet business requirements, resolve current challenges and drive innovation
  • Support project governance by chairing meetings with delegated individuals from various business lines and functions to socialize recommendations
  • Create transparency and foster accountability with stakeholders to support successful project implementation
  • Complete data profiling to support documentation of business rules and solution design
  • Document business requirements for validation with Business Leads and SMEs
  • Collaborate with Technology Lead to identify optimal digital solutions
  • Assess impact of digital solutions on business processes
  • Perform or coordinate business testing (BAT and UAT) of new releases and prepare report for review by Business Lead(s)
  • Support change management activities (documentation, communication and product demos)
  • Identify opportunities to optimize processes and expedite adjudication, while enriching data used for reporting, analytics and capital purposes
  • Maintain and contribute to the prioritization of user feedback and defect logs
  • Escalate issues to Business Lead(s) for resolution as applicable
  • Complete other related duties as assigned, including problem solving complex issues


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?

  • Undergraduate degree (or higher) in technical field such as computer science or business degree with diverse project experience
  • 5+ years of experience in financial services and risk management projects primarily in business analysis
  • Experience implementing new, large scale risk management solution(s)
  • Experience with different solution delivery approaches (i.e. waterfall, agile)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to recommend innovative solutions
  • Detailed-oriented with proven ability to gather, document and articulate complex requirements, process and data flows
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation and collaboration skills, with ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Operates effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Proficient in MS Excel & PowerPoint tools
  • Knowledge of Business Banking processes, policies and guidelines will be an asset
  • Familiarity with Business Banking credit and limit monitoring systems will be an asset
