Purpose

The Senior Manager, Global Operations Communications is a key member and contributor to the overall success of the Global Operations business through supporting, developing and delivering ongoing communications strategies and plans in support of EVP as well as priority initiatives for Global Operations. The incumbent leads complex cross-functional initiatives and works closely with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver on their objectives.


The incumbent contributes to the overall success of the Global Communications and Global Operations teams by building and delivering best in class internal and external communications both within the Global Operations group, and enterprise-wide.


The Senior Manager leads and executes creative communication strategies well-suited to the Global Operations audience ensuring concise and engaging content. The incumbent delivers communications that drive understanding and successful execution of Bank objectives as they relate to Global Operations and collaborates with internal partners to enhance communication within the function.


Accountabilities

  • Supports the planning and management of an integrated internal and external communications plan for key Global Operations initiatives. This role includes the development and execution of internal and external communications plans, writing and editing of key communications pieces including communications on behalf of EVP, Global Operations, and providing strategic communications advice to business leaders.
  • Production and management of Global Operations communications pieces, including: speeches/scripting, announcements, press releases, online content, videos, Town Halls and presentations. This includes working with internal business partners to develop these communications as needed and coordinating and executing the delivery of communications to target audiences (internal and external).
  • Develop and execute creative internal campaigns to engage Global Operations employees and drive forward the business strategy leveraging internal social media tools.
  • Produces and manages the development and enhancement of communications internal sites and social platforms. Responsible for working closely with stakeholders and technical experts to design and deliver these; conceptualizing, creating, and delivering content for the sites; and measuring use and effectiveness of digital communications.
  • Seek opportunities to expand role and responsibilities and build strategic partnerships across Global Operations and senior business leaders as well as within the Global Communications & Social Impact team.
  • Understand how the Bank’s culture of high performance and customer focus should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Champions a high performing environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.


Education / Experience / Other Information

  • Minimum undergraduate university degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Business, Marketing, or a related field. A post-graduate certificate in Public Relations is an asset.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a corporate communications role, preferably in a financial services (or regulated) environment. Media relations and social media experience is an asset.
  • Superior verbal and written English communication skills including demonstrable creativity, accuracy and attention to detail. (Spanish is an asset).
  • Experience in developing videos, online/digital communications, communications websites and graphic design is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and/or Photoshop preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • The incumbent must be diplomatic, flexible, with a positive, mature attitude, and the ability to remain calm under pressure and to deliver under tight timelines.
  • Must also be proactive and creative, with strong, proven ability to plan and manage competing priorities, as well as ability to recognize and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.


Working Conditions
  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel as appropriate.
