About This Opportunity


There are 3 Category Commercial Manager roles on the Commercial team reporting to the Category Commercial Director. The Director reports to the VP Commercial who reports to the Chief Operating Officer of Coke Canada. We are hiring for the Energy role.

The Category Commercial Senior Manager is responsible for managing our relationship, contract, and annual category business plan for the Energy category with our partner Monster Inc. This includes the development, management, and assessment of results for each brand and category inclusive of all sources of growth by category (innovation/LTO & other). This includes managing the innovation pipeline and all associated activities. This individual will work with Monster on the energy business and be the single point of contact to develop business plans and track results. This individual will work with several stakeholders at Monster and Coke Canada to ensure all skus in market are profitable, commercially viable, and executed successfully in market. This role is also responsible for assessing whether category sell stories and tools can be successfully implemented in the marketplace, in accordance with our Revenue Growth principles and Look of Success.


Responsibilities


BUSINESS PLANNING

  • Responsible for all new products or packaging as part of Stages & Gates approval process; working closely with Monster to develop plans.
  • Process owner for all projects in Stages & Gates process
  • Responsible for collecting all information from product supply, finance and RGM to assess each project for approval in the bottler S&G pre-alignment
  • Preparation of all documents for monthly S&G pre-alignment meetings
  • Responsible for all innovation/LTO forecasts in collaboration with our partners.
  • Project Management for all Monster projects.
  • Responsible for providing Coke Canada’s position re Brand, Pack, Price & Channel to ensure we effectively target priority occasions, shoppers and missions which integrate with National Sales, and Field Sales. The Manager implements our innovation calendar to support our Category Growth priorities.
  • Lead the annual category business planning process inclusive of innovation, LTO’s and other category of Sources of Growth (revenue sources of growth which lead to hitting our annual category revenue target). Analysis of trends, competition, and regional variations.
  • Contributes to the execution of our Portfolio Management Process (Sku Optimization) including plan alignment with CCCBL and Monster.
  • Leads profitable revenue growth of our base business (all skus) addressing both risks and opportunities with action plans developed in collaboration with Commercial Execution, Revenue Growth Management and Sales teams.


EXECUTION

  • Help develop Canadian Sales Selling Decks stories with Brand Initiative Lead and Category/Channel Strategy owners to support the sell in of our Monster innovations with our NRS and Local account teams.
  • Supports the Commercial Execution Managers to ensure innovation is aligned with the System Key Metrics, is captured accurately in execution priorities, Look of Success documents, Gameplan and Merchandising Standards.


EVALUATION

  • Innovation/LTO Scorecards: Responsible for evaluating the success of all innovation versus the final business case, reporting on the results to the Monster and CCCBL leadership teams. Responsible for identifying gaps and working with stakeholders to close gaps. Leverage the innovation results as a key input into future innovation plans in pursuit of continual improvement.
  • Track results vs category SOGS (Sources of Growth) and work with RGM, Commercial Execution and Monster and NRS to develop action plans to close gaps vs business plan.
  • Monthly Business Reviews: Responsible for analyzing business results, assessing opportunities, and identifying and leading the development of gap closing plans with the commercial execution, revenue growth management and sales teams.
  • Ad hoc analytics as required to address new and emerging business challenges.


Qualifications


Education Required:

  • Post-Secondary Degree required (Business/Marketing Preferred) relevant Masters degree an asset


Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5+ years of sales, operations, marketing, or category management experience leading a team


Required Qualifications/Competencies/Skills

  • Strategic & Analytical Thinking
  • Category management
  • Data Analysis – Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, data mining), AC Nielsen, and Knowledge of our Coke Canada systems Craft/Margin Minder or proven track record as a quick learner.
  • Selling Experience in beverages, DSD selling model, the Coke System or similar CPG sales experience calling on customers
