Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Mining Hydrogeologist to join our Mine Water & Environment team on a full-timebasis based in Missisauga, GTA, Ottawa, Sudbury or Montreal.

This is a senior level position as a technical leader within the Vancouver mine groundwater group. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the mining industry leading hydrogeologic characterization studies in support of engineering design and environmental impact assessments, as well as experience and technical expertise related to operational mine water management.

An Overview Of Your Role Will Include
  • Leading field data collection, planning, and implementation related to geological, geotechnical, and hydrogeological projects.
  • Overseeing and providing technical guidance related to geologic mapping, drilling supervision, borehole logging, installation, and maintenance of groundwater wells, hydraulic well testing, and surface and groundwater sampling
  • Designing and managing mine water management studies and programs involving the collection of hydrogeological field data and data interpretation/evaluation
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports
  • Building the business through proposals, opportunity management, and industry contacts
  • Integrating information from geological and hydrogeological data visualization, and conceptual and numerical groundwater models, to meet client and project needs.
  • Mentoring junior and intermediate staff and displaying safety leadership

Your Background Will Include
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, or comparable program
  • 15+ years professional experience related to hydrogeology
  • 8+ years experience in the mining sector
  • Flexible, adaptable to change with demanding conditions, and willing to travel for periods of 1 to 2 weeks at a time
  • Excellent communication skills combined with willingness to work as part of a group
Desired Skills Include
  • Graduate or post-graduate level knowledge of hydrological concepts desirable
  • Mechanical skills to handle and experience operating sophisticated hydrogeological testing equipment including pneumatic and hydraulic tools, and electronics
  • Strong geotechnical soils laboratory and field skills, and demonstrated applications of geologic principles and quantitative hydrogeology
  • Experience with industry standard commercial computer software including: Microsoft Excel and Access, ArcGIS, and various geo-engineering software (i.e. slope stability, rockfall analysis, etc.).
