We are looking for a motivated Field Applications Engineer to join our team. Reporting into the Worldwide Sales Organization and supporting the Signal Integrity Products Group, you will work directly with customers and internal teams to resolve customer issues and drive design wins and revenue growth. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical support for Tier 1 Wireless and Datacenter customers focusing on industry leading CDR designs at 50Gb/s and beyond
  • Responsible for revenue generation through design wins utilizing excellent customer support and response time
  • Work directly with customers from early pre-sales promotion of new products, through bring-up, qualification, production and to end of life ensuring all issues are fully resolved in a timely manner
  • Support NPI teams as the ‘voice of the customer’, bringing customer requirements and requests to the teams attention in the early stages of product development
  • Work closely with cross functional teams within Sales and the Signal Integrity Products business unit, setting accurate expectations for necessary data to be gathered and generating customer facing reports ultimately to be presented
  • Willingness to travel worldwide :20% of the time for on-site support of customers (particularly Asia region), including debugging Semtech IC’s and new production promotion / demonstration
  • Provide training to our regional Field Applications Engineering and Sales teams on new products and technical topics pertaining to optical modules
  • Perform lab experiments using state of the art test equipment to replicate and resolve customer concerns
  • Review of customer’s schematics and layouts for next generation designs, providing recommendations based on best practices and Semtech recommendations
  • Provide input to Semtech Datasheets and Application Notes based on experience of usability and customer feedback
  • Understand relevant industry standards and any specific customer requirements, to validate conformance of internal and external results to these requirements
  • Gather competitive intelligence in order to provide guidance into product requirements and reference designs
Preferred Experience And Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Bachelor’s program in Engineering or Physics
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience working in the Semiconductor Industry in Applications, Systems or Field Applications Engineering fields
  • Ability to articulate the value of Semtech products and how they can benefit the customer
  • Familiar with IEEE and OIF Standards for NRZ and PAM4 Optical Transceiver Market segments
  • Experience in optical test and measurement methodologies
  • Experience using high speed test and measurement equipment
  • Experience and knowledge in Signal Integrity: Troubleshooting Hardware Design
  • Experience and knowledge in Optical Systems: Troubleshooting Optical Components
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills

  • Ability to understand and speak Mandarin fluently
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Highly adaptable – enjoy working in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and ability to communicate and work well with other team members
  • Experience with salesforce.com and Agile PLM
