This professional engineering position is responsible for developing specifications and designs, supporting facility compliance, system optimization and planning; asset management; liaising with internal and external parties on matters relating to installation or modification of the systems and resolving operating problems.

Our ideal candidate

  • Required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with regulatory agencies, outside developers and utility customers.
  • Thorough knowledge of the applicable government acts, regulations, codes, directives, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of construction management principles and procedures, proficiency reading
  • architectural/engineering drawings and specifications, with the ability to prepare design documents and specifications.
  • Knowledge in CAD operations, GIS technology and modeling applications.
  • Knowledge, understanding and commitment to City’s Corporate Safety standards

Qualifications

  • Posses one or more of the following competencies: Overhead/underground distribution or transmission line design, P&C design, settings design, SCADA design, standards development, and electrical utility asset management.
  • Prepare and assist in development of plans and business cases to optimize systems, facilities and processes by completing technical options analysis, projecting system and cost benefits.
  • Responsible for strategy planning related to the evaluation of infrastructure, preparing recommendations for rehabilitation and/or replacement to minimize life cycle and operational costs.
  • Develop project and system program requirements including scope, cost estimates, risk registers, and resource requirements for the work.
  • This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
