Opportunity


We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Product Risk Management team who will support the risk managers in total fund risk oversight and conduct quantitative/qualitative analysis and risk reporting for the AIMCo total fund portfolio.

Highly consultative yet confident, you will support risk related decision making and portfolio risk monitoring.

Investment Risk Management (IRM) is a department within the Risk Management division consisting of two teams – Product Risk Management (PRM) and Client Risk Management (CRM). The PRM team supports AIMCo’s investment decision-making processes by providing insight and independent oversight of AIMCo’s investment risks at the total fund, asset class, product, and strategy levels. PRM is organized along the same asset class lines in which the Investment Management division is organized: Total Fund, Public Equity, Fixed Income, TAA, Infrastructure & Renewable Resources, Real Estate and Private Equity.

IRM is supported by the Investment Risk Analytics (IRA) department, which is responsible for the accurate modelling and the timely measurement and reporting of investment risks.


Responsibilites
  • Assist portfolio risk monitoring and reporting to support AIMCo in making risk-informed decisions
  • Conduct risk assessments—identify and analyze existing and emerging risks that affect the total fund
  • Support the hiring manager in monitoring market conditions
  • Support total fund liquidity and leverage risk oversight
  • Assist the development of ad-hoc risk methodologies across various asset classes
  • Support the development and validation of economic scenarios used in stress testing and scenario analysis
  • Work with data service departments and/or technology partners to identify and source necessary position, market and reference data to fulfill risk measurement practices.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative/analytic discipline (Finance, Economics, Commence, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Financial Economic, Financial Mathematics, Computer Science)
  • Completion or working towards CFA, PRM, and FRM designation is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • 1-3+ years relevant experience preferred. Would consider new graduates with excellent co-op/intern experience
  • Solid knowledge of investment strategies and risks across asset classes
  • Ability to pay attention to detail as well as to prioritize and organize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration
  • Familiar with MS Applications and programming skills, such as Python, R or other analytic/data visualization tools.

Success Measures


Within the first three months, the incumbent will have developed a good working knowledge of AIMCo’s total fund, workflows and processes. They will demonstrate a commitment to AIMCo’s core values through interactions and work deliverables.
