Job Description

PURPOSE:

Review and decision client borrowing requests/transactions within your own authority level including adjudication and underwriting. Includes review and interpretation of Credit Reports, review and analysis of financial statements, and preparation of spreads and formal presentations for larger requests including those to be submitted to RCAP Vice President, Group Risk Management (GRM) and/or Commercial Advisory Group (CAG). Responsible for coaching and mentoring Adjudication Associates/Officers as well as participating in training of staff in other departments and working together with other senior level employees in other departments. Contribute to strategic business priorities by providing support to Sales Team thereby enhancing revenue, customer loyalty and portfolio management. Recognize enterprise solutions which can be leveraged to improve the client experience. Other duties include working Credit queue and ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) commitments are met.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Primary focus on Transportation & Construction Verticals as well as other mid-ticket areas.
  • Adjudicate credit applications based on review of credit reports and financial analysis including preparation of financial spreads. Includes processing work volumes as measured through established service level agreements (SLA’s).

  • Underwrite transactions including setting appropriate structures based on knowledge of equipment value and useful life. Undertake related research as required.
  • Provide approval, decline or negotiation of credit applications within specifically assigned Delegated Lending Authority and related accountabilities, ensuring timely delivery of credit decision.
  • Work closely negotiating and communicating in a timely manner with internal RCAP/RBC partners as well as external service providers in this area.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with Vendor and Broker partners. Includes regular phone contact and face to face meetings as required.
  • Assist in develop and maintenance of internal systems required for Credit processing. Includes understanding of front-end and back-end systems used by the Credit Department. Assist by providing feedback and testing of new systems and ongoing system enhancements.
  • Participate in project work as required requiring positive and collaborative work with staff in other departments and external partners.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other Junior Credit Officers and other colleagues.
  • Assist in policy creation process by way of design input, analysis, feedback, participation in discussion, suggestions of potential changes/adjustments, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Develop, prepare and analyze monthly vertical specific reports as required. Includes analysis of trends and appropriate strategy to adjust accordingly.
  • Work requires not only continual reaction and adaptation to change, but also anticipation of upcoming change and preparation for it.
  • Follow established Coaching Routines and related activity to drive high performance and enhance client experience.
  • Adjudicate credit from various delivery channels (e.g. Vendors, Brokers, Direct Sales etc.).Primary focus on Transportation & Construction Verticals as well as other mid-ticket areas.
  • Follow standard RCAP/RBC lending policy and procedure guidelines.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Business degree/diploma from a College or University.
  • 5-10 years progressive experience within a credit/lending environment.
  • Experience lending in a vendor finance model is considered an asset.
  • Industry networking contacts including asset remarketers, origination sources, and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills inclusive of clear and prompt responsive communication to all internal and external partners.
  • Expertise in the analysis and interpretation of commercial and personal credit reports from various agencies.
  • Highly-developed financial analysis skills including ratio calculation, interpretation and analysis. Ability to discuss trends and ratios with Sales Reps and with GRM/CAG contacts as-required.
  • Strong understanding of equipment and structuring of transactions. Ability to discuss and negotiate structure with Sales Reps as well as Vendor and Broker partners.
  • Ability to set very high standards in terms of being detail-oriented.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Decisive with the ability to demonstrate initiative/confidence.
  • Bilingual capabilities are an asset but not mandatory.
  • Proficient with MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with -or ability to quickly learn- key RCAP front-end and administrative applications.
  • Ability to learn RBC applications including Synergy, NEWTON, Sales Platform, CMS, BCRMS etc.
