This position reports directly to the Assistant Manager, Trust Accounting. In following general accounting principles (GAAP) the Senior Trust Accountant is responsible for providing coaching to Trust Accountant in the delivery and control of the maintenance, reconciliation, accuracy and balancing of all daily functions within the Trust department in accordance with regulatory guidelines and statutory requirements with impact of over million dollar exposure.


Key Accountabilities


  • Responsible for providing coaching and training to Trust Accountants and overseeing preparation of complex net cash movements for all Dynamic funds based on unitholder transaction data with over million-dollar exposure with various counterparties;
  • Successful development of packages for audits and external auditors including G/L entries on a daily/weekly basis for any accounts assigned and ensure all transactions are accounted for;
  • Reconcile and balance daily transactions for all Dynamic funds, resolving complex discrepancies independently and escalating outstanding issues appropriately;
  • Responsible for performing complex review on the settlement of unitholder transactions and first-level sign-off of daily net cash movements, wires, EFT, CITs and other payment methods;
  • Ensure completion of quality control report from SUN after inputting to ensure accuracy and completeness, after completion post to G/L;
  • Final review and process of manual payments involving million-dollar exposure to clients, custodians & FundServ before forwarding to Assistant Manager;
  • Analyze and oversee tax activities for tax returns completion including remittance of government accounts, preparing withholding tax in accordance to regulatory guidelines and statutory requirements;
  • Working with Trust Accountants, prepare analysis of various G/L accounts and following up with outstanding items to ensure timely clearing of items with multiple stakeholders by liaising with internal/external parties;
  • Preparing daily bank reconciliation and updating the outstanding cheque list, ensure accuracy of daily deposits;
  • Quarterly reconciliation of the taxes per iFAST and the MagMedia files sent to government
  • Preparing invoices or payments for commission and trailer fees,
  • Updating issued manual payments and cancelled cheques into unitholder systems (IFAST, ECS & BNS) as required;
  • Daily reconciliation of Loss/NSF fees which are allocated to funds;
  • Perform and validate monthly interest allocation on each fund;
  • Daily/weekly/monthly tasks as assigned in the successful operation of department and act as the backup of Assistant Manager;
  • Participating in special projects and other administrative duties as required;

Education/Work Experience


  • Completion of bachelor’s degree
  • Completion or working towards CPA – definite asset
  • IFIC operations certified definite asset;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mutual funds industry experience required;
  • Experience working with (SUN, & Ifast) – definite asset;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (i.e. Excel & Word) required;
  • Experience with financial accounting system, SUN, an asset
  • Experience providing coaching and training to team members.
