Air Products Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Products and Chemicals Inc., has has an immediate opening for a Sr. Account Manager, located in Edmonton, Alberta.

Air Products Canada Ltd currently operates three hydrogen production facilities in Alberta, and a 55-kilometer hydrogen pipeline in the Alberta Industrial Heartland. The company also operates a hydrogen production facility, a 30-kilometer pipeline network and a liquefaction facility in Sarnia, Ontario. With the recent announcement of the world’s largest net-zero hydrogen energy complex in Edmonton, Alberta, Air Products Canada is significantly growing and helping to enable Canada’s clean energy transition!


Position Summary

We are currently seeking highly motivated Sr. Account Manager to join our hydrogen business team in Edmonton, Alberta. Working both independently and in a team environment, you will be responsible for asset management, account management, technical/financial analysis and identifying new opportunities for growth in Canada’s future hydrogen economy!
The successful candidate will possess strong business acumen and technical background as well as a passion for impacting the bottom line. The position requires a highly motivated, self-starter with strong analytical skills who is capable of independent learning. Associated with the position is the potential for growth within the role and beyond commensurate with the candidate’s skills and development.
In this role, the Sr. Account Manager will work closely with various functions including operations, business development, environmental, finance, and accounting to achieve business objectives.

Principal Accountabilities

Account Management: Develop and effectively lead high quality, long-term Client relationships for assigned accounts. Manage product supply/demand forecasts, contract compliance, invoicing data and accounts receivable. Develop and execute strategies for contract renewals, protecting the base business.
Asset Management:Collaborating closely with operations, provide commercial guidance on the overall production and transportation of hydrogen aimed at improving overall profitability. Strong focus on safety, reliability, efficiency, cost management, and overall system optimization. Identify and evaluate alternatives to mitigate business and operational risks.
Technical/Financial Analysis: Develop a solid understanding of the technical aspects of hydrogen feedstock sourcing, production, distribution and fueling in order to communicate the advantages of hydrogen to key stakeholders. Perform economic evaluations to justify and prioritize the execution of productivity projects to achieve business targets. Develop presentations and technical reports required for internal stakeholders and clients.
Grow the Business: Understand client’s technical/operational requirements. Keep current on market, client and industry trends and evaluate/communicate impacts on business as well as potential for opportunities. Complete opportunity assessments, technology comparisons, and budgetary proposals. Opportunity to negotiate and execute multi-year supply agreements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred (registered with APEGA)
  • MBA an asset.
  • 10+ years of related experience (business or technical type roles),
  • Knowledge of chemical, petrochemical, refining & upgrading operations preferred. Understanding evolving carbon policies, including provincial GHG programs viewed favorably
  • Track record of identifying and successfully pursuing new opportunities that improve the bottom line,
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams to deliver timely customer-facing products/proposals
  • Excellent analytical skills and business acumen – ability to formulate and articulate winning strategies and value creation for clients
  • The ability to build relationships and influence is essential for success in this role,
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and technical skills are required to effectively use working relationships with key stakeholders to achieve business objectives,
  • Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work in a lean organization. Demonstrated strong critical thinking skills and must be attentive to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Able to travel to customer offices/sites and Air Products offices within Canada and the US
