Security Guard - Spare (GTA North) - Aurora, Newmarket, Vaughan, Thornhill, Markham

INTRODUCTION:

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

While duties vary by assignment, the responsibilities of this role may include, but are not limited to:

• Ensure access control is followed and client property is secured
• Escort contractors as required.
• Monitor CCTV equipment

• Maintain positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients

• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment.

• Sign in visitors and contractors
• Issue contractor keys and access cards
• Respond to building emergencies (e.g. alarms, building evacuations, medical emergencies,

elevator entrapments, etc.)

• Respond to emergencies (i.e. medical, elevator entrapments, etc.), alarms and utilization of alarm panels.

• Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors.

• Complete daily logs and written reports as necessary

• Conduct interior and exterior patrols of the property.

• Receive, process, and x-ray deliveries.

• Answer telephone calls.

• Sign in employees who forgot their Ministry ID (using Excel).

• Program and issue employee day passes, and contractor/visitor passes

• Prepare shift checklist, key audit and supplies checklist.

• Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

WE ARE EXCITED FOR YOU TO OFFER US:

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma
• *MUST* Ontario Security Guard License
• *MUST* Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time
• Ability to complete frequent patrols
• Ability to speak/read/communicate in English (fluently), ability to speak French is consider an asset
• Excellent customer service and reception skills

WHAT THE JOB OFFERS YOU:

• Rate of Pay: $20.00 per hour. The scale of compensation is variable and reflective of site contracts. Please note some of our sites are unionized work environments.
• Working Hours: Rotating 8 and 12-hour shifts, various hours/days of the week. This includes full-time, part-time, casual and seasonal positions.

As a front-line representative of our company and client’s site you must be highly reliable, work well under pressure, able to work with minimal supervision, have the ability to multitask and be a professional who takes pride in your dress, deportment and performance at all times.
