Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager or Consultant, this position provides secretarial and administrative support integral to the efficient operation of programs, services and offices of Public Health. The Secretary C works with teams, partners and community following a customer service approach. This position provides general administrative support for the office, confidential records management and data entry, reception for the general public, and specific program support.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary Program for Administrative Support Professionals from a recognized college or school of business plus a minimum of one year of related experience
  • Demonstrated typing proficiency with a speed of 60 wpm required
  • Medical terminology preferred
  • Working knowledge of IT systems such as Panorama, SAP, filing and file retention procedures and schedules, purchasing equipment or supplies
  • Working knowledge of patient registration and scheduling systems and payroll system
  • Experience in a health care setting preferred
  • Experience working in Public Health an asset
  • Demonstrated an understanding of the core competencies for Primary Health administrative professionals
  • Able to build partnerships and work cooperatively and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting with a strong focus on community
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Skills working in inclusive environments and able to interact effectively with diverse individuals, groups and communities
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team, applying sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize
  • Ability to use office technology effectively and efficiently
  • Demonstrates an understanding of core competencies of CPR/First Aid
  • Must be self-directed and adept at problem-solving while working with minimal supervision
  • Must have strong organizational skills that demonstrate the ability to prioritize upon short notice while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
  • Travel may be required for this position
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • A skills test will be included as part of the selection process**

Hours of Work
  • Long assignment full-time position; 70 hours biweekly
  • Beginning as soon as possible with an expected end date of June 2, 2023

Salary Information

$20.25 - $22.50 hourly
