Job Description:
The Safety Officer will be responsible for working with other departments to ensure that all work assignments are completed safely according to policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate would have safety experience in both the Oil & Gas and Transportation Industries. In addition to the safety role, knowledge of Canadian Hours of Service regulations, ELDs (Big Road) systems are required.

Job Duties:

  • Maintaining and updating the current safety program (Policies & procedures)
  • Schedule and maintain records of employee training
  • Create and conduct monthly safety meetings and inspections
  • Conduct new employee safety orientation
  • Manage all safety related reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with all government, corporate regulations and industry standards
  • Follow & enforce OHS Act, Regulations & Code
  • Conduct COR annual audits through the AASP
  • Monitor ELDs and log books to ensure no violations of Hours of Service regulations
  • Preventative maintenance coordination with mechanics
  • Maintain equipment files including maintenance logs
  • IFTA reporting
  • Prorate & vehicle/trailer registrations
  • Communicate with insurance brokers on changes to fleet
  • Communicating with Dispatch and Management to make sure all information is conveyed

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have at least three years of experience in a safety related field
  • Certified COR auditor status
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety practices
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) required
  • HSA, NCSO, QHSO or equivalent safety designation an asset
