Dragados Canada, Inc., the Canadian construction arm of the ACS Group (one of the world’s largest international construction and engineering companies), is seeking a talented and experienced Safety Advisor to join its dynamic and energetic team.


Dragados Canada was established in 2008 and has grown steadily into an industry-leader in Canada, with offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, successfully performing a variety of large-scale transportation, bridge, dam, tunnel, and other major infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the safe execution of construction activities through safe work planning, rescue plans, inspections, and audits
  • Provide incident response and investigation to determine root cause and corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, site policies, and standard operating procedures
  • Establish a Job Hazard Analysis in addition to other workplace safety measures such as emergency response plans, fall protection, traffic control, and work permits
  • Participates in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, pre-activity meetings, incident reviews, and emergency response exercises
  • Contributes to the creation of standards, processes, and practices
  • Inspect project work areas and recommend corrective action
  • Provide in-field coaching and training to personnel
  • Mediate health and safety issues to resolution
  • Promote a safe and inclusive culture
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in a similar role is required
  • Professional accreditation in Health, Safety or Emergency response is preferred
  • EMT experience and Class 3 First Aid Certification are highly preferred
  • Hands-on experience in heavy civil construction in a field environment
  • Demonstrates competency in Safety Management Systems and safety-based behaviour as part of safety culture
  • Marine experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Proven self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude
  • Strong verbal communication skills, ability to effectively engage craft, supervise, and manage
  • Valid G class or F class license
