About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, the Respiratory Therapist works as part of the health care team (physician, nurse and other team members) to plan and implement treatment to achieve therapeutic goals to meet the needs of patients with sleep disorders. The Respiratory Therapist also performs diagnostic breathing tests on patients to determine lung function. These tests allow the physician to monitor the severity of impairment, disease progression and course of treatment. In addition, pulmonary technologist performs cardio-pulmonary stress tests and assists with bronchoscopies. Also included are technical duties related to testing, maintenance and evaluation of equipment. The Therapist will work a variety of patients including adults, children and infants.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Successful completion of a Respiratory Therapy program from an accredited institution
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care Exams
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists
  • Eligible for registration with Canadian Association of Cardio-Pulmonary Technologists (CACPT) required. Successful challenge of the CACPT exam is required within 2 years of commencing employment
  • Current certification in BCLS and ACLS
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, on a consultative basis, within the health care team
  • Demonstrated competency in skills necessary to provide services for respiratory care
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be available for stand-by as required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Permanent Full-time / 100% FTE / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
  • Shifts include days, nights, weekends and holidays
Salary Information

$28.65 - $39.27 hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
