Your Opportunity:

Chinook Regional Hospital Respiratory Therapists provide clinical support for a 20-bed ICU, a 16-bed level 2+ NICU, an 11-bed Pediatric unit, a level 3 trauma center and an active OR, in addition to multiple medical and surgical inpatient units. As a Respiratory Therapist I at the Chinook Regional Hospital, you will work to full scope of practice providing respiratory care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to assist in the diagnosis and management of patients of all ages with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. You will actively participate in the education of patients, students, staff and physicians; contribute to department and/or service area process improvement; maintain a professional and accountable practice; advocate professionally and effectively for patients using the principles of patient and family-centred care and provide technical support for all Respiratory Therapy equipment. Respiratory Therapists at Chinook Regional Hospital are expected to cover all areas that they have been orientated to and that Respiratory Services clinically supports, if required. A demonstrated pattern of professional development; display of interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills; ability to manage competing priorities, be self-directed, exercise independent decision-making and effectively resolve conflict; and promotion of a healthy, respectful, and safe work environment are required. Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic Life Support - Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP). Recent Acute and critical care registered respiratory therapist experience (within past 5 years).

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant bachelor’s degree. 2 or more years of Acute Care Respiratory Therapy experience in the past 5 years. Recent Neonatal invasive and non-invasive ventilation experience (in the past 5 years). Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. Competency in Arterial line insertion. Competency in Adult intubation.
