Job Summary

Are you a motivated team player who is passionate about research and data analysis?

As the Research Administrator you will be part of a high performing team at the leading edge of human resource analytics in the BC Public Service. You will provide the research and analysis of organizational human resources (HR) data to support the day-to-day delivery of the strategic HR (SHR) analytics services. You will provide this support by accessing, transforming, analyzing and presenting HR data from various sources for internal and/or external clients, with a focus on data visualization to enhance the strategic HR business intelligence. The Research Administrator position was created in part to establish a succession pipeline into the SHR analyst role. As such, you will collaborate with various team members and provide project support for the People and Workplace Strategies (PAWS) branch. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the HR analytics working group across the BC Public Service to learn from other SHR analysts and better meet the SHR needs of the ministry leadership clients.

The People and Workplace Strategies Branch in CSNR, supporting the Ministry of Forests and Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, works in partnership with leadership clients to provide thorough, value-added and innovative strategic human resource management and organization development services. The Branch provides clients with Ministry-wide direction and consultation to align Strategic HR and organization development strategies with Ministry business priorities and goals. The Branch leads several initiatives for its ministry clients including workforce planning, employee engagement and other key people priorities that support a positive work environment and high-performance workplace culture.

About our division

Corporate Services for the Natural Resource Ministries (CSNR) serves the six natural resource ministries (Agriculture and Food; Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation; Environment and Climate Change Strategy; Forests; Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation and Water, Land and Resource Stewardship). CSNR is a unique corporate services organization providing services for approximately 7,000 natural resource ministry employees in over 100 locations throughout the province. These services include all aspects of financial planning, budget management, financial operations, strategic human resources, and facilities and asset management. CSNR’s vision is to be a trusted partner sharing in the success of the natural resource ministries. Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Secondary (or high) school graduation or equivalent.
  • Completion of course work related to research, statistics or program analysis.
  • Experience with reporting and analytics.

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

  • More than six months of experience with reporting and analytics.
  • Experience working with HR data.
  • Experience working with advanced Microsoft Office Excel features such as macros and Power Query.
  • Experience working with business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until March 31, 2024.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 4 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based in any of the following Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship offices: Victoria, Kamloops and Prince George.
