Relief Control Room Operator (Deer Lake Power)

OVERVIEW

Working with the team in our Deer Lake Power Plant, the Relief Control Room Operator performs general duties in the maintenance shops and provides relief to Control Room Operators (Lead or Senior). The Relief Control Room Operator is responsible for the operation of two hydroelectric plants and associated facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

– Work safely while conducting required duties and have a strong dedication to working safely

– Generation unit starts, stops, and load adjustments

– Monitor and control using SCADA and in-plant annunciator systems

– Execution of switching orders

– Input and compilation of statistics for various reports

– Work as part of a team and independently as required

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must have:

– A Diploma in Electronic/Electrical Engineering Technology or a 1st Class Interprovincial certificate in the industrial electrical trade

– Ability to complete training to achieve Provincial Certification in the Power Systems Operator Trade or equivalent is essential

– Demonstrated computer efficiency including Microsoft Office Suite

– Recent WHMIS training and Standard First Aid certification

– The successful candidate(s) will be required to submit a Certificate of Conduct from a local police agency of the RCMP before commencing employment.

This full-time regular position will be located in Deer Lake, NL.

Compensation

The Relief Control Room Operator is paid in accordance with the Unifor, Local 495 collective agreement. The starting rate is $43.27 per hour.
