This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Surgical/Day Surgery Unit, Valley Regional Hospital (VRH), the Registered Nurse works to full scope of practice as an independent practitioner within an inter-professional and collaborative team, providing holistic (addressing bio, psycho, social, cultural and spiritual needs), and comprehensive care for individuals, families, groups, populations and communities across the continuum of care. The RN provides leadership and applies advanced nursing knowledge within specific practice settings, and in-depth nursing knowledge, skills and judgment in providing care to all individuals (includes families, groups, populations and communities).

The RN ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and inter-professional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor degree in Nursing preferred
  • Currently registered, and in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) or eligible for registration
  • Unit specific experience preferred
  • Unit-specific equipment & technology
  • General computer proficiency is required
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Demonstrated accountability

Hours of Work

Long Assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Beginning October 2021 with an anticipated end date of August 2022 (approximately 10 months)

Salary Information

$35.2108 - $41.4848 hourly

$42.9366 with 25 years’ experience
