Responsibilities

The RN practices within the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) Standards of Nursing Practice for Registered Nurses and the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics. The RN is responsible and accountable for the nursing care of an assigned group of patients and their families, provides guidance and leadership to peers and other staff, and works in a collaborative relationship with colleagues, unit staff, students and members of related health disciplines.

Qualifications
  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Breast Feeding Program or willingness to complete within six (6) months
  • One (1) year neonatal experience within the past three (3) years
    • If there are no candidates who meet the above experience qualification, two (2) years critical care nursing experience in the past three (3) years will be considered
  • Willingness to take the Neonatal Orientation and Education Program (NOEP) (based on the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses Orientation Education program (AWHONN))
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Evidence of ongoing relevant education
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, and ability to maintain good relationships with patients/residents, families and co-workers
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Good attendance and work record; attendance records may be reviewed
  • Competencies in other languages considered an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Permanent, Full-time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly

Salary Information

$35.21 - $41.48 hourly

$42.94 with 25 years of RN experience
