Your Opportunity:An exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse to join our team at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital - Minor OR, Day Procedures, Day Surgery and Endoscopy Units. With a number of different specialties including Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Orthopedics, Urology and General Surgery. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide peri-operative care to patients in both the circulation and scrub roles. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in quality improvement initiatives at the front line, supporting and maintaining high quality patient care strategies with the Surgery program.Description:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of the perioperative nursing course or extensive OR experience required. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for an extended period of time as required. Ability to stand for long periods of time to support surgical team.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Previous or current OR experience preferred. Previous experience in Minor Surgery Clinic preferred. Previous Charge Nurse experience considered an asset.
