Your Opportunity:This position supports Medicine Hat Home Care Team South.Description:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:Home Care Case Management experience within the last 2 years. Knowledge of and skills in applying Home Care Nursing Practice Standards. Knowledge of Continuing Care Health Service Standards. Negotiating skills with clients, caregivers and families. Family assessment skills. Effective oral and written communication. Working independently and as member of a team. Working with people in a health care environment with professionalism and respect. Positive approach and good listening skills in dealing with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity. Understanding of principles of Palliative Care. Knowledge of Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) Program. Ability to perform all assigned tasks and direct clinical care including but not limited to: Constant adjustment of position (sit/stand) throughout the shift. Physical exertion including bending/walking/sitting or standing for long periods of time. Keyboarding/mousing documentations for prolonged periods of time. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Ability to be on call as required.Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred: however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Recent geriatric clinical experience.
