Your Opportunity:Are you a Registered Nurse who has always wanted to work with mothers and babies? Unit 27 is looking for RN’s who are passionate about maternal /child nursing. We offer a classroom-based orientation program with buddy shifts to facilitate learning and skill development. If this is an area you have always wanted to work in, come join our team and we will learn together! The preferred candidate for this unit is one who has a strong interest, experience, and ability to provide family centered care to the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum experience. This environment is suitable for candidates who enjoy patient and family teaching and guiding/supporting students of novice health care professionals. Please note the start dates will vary depending on individual orientation requirements.Description:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Fetal Health Surveillance experience required. Basic computer skills. Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities. Ability to work shift work. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. A candidate with certification in a relevant specialty area, charge nurse experience, NRP, Electronic Monitoring and MoreOB certification is preferred.Preferred Qualifications:Current IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) Certification as asset. Inter-professional Communication. Patient/Client/Family/Community-Centered Care. Leadership and critical thinking skills. Ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities.
