Your Opportunity:U33 is the Neurology and General Medicine unit at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. We are a 36 bed acute care inpatient unit that houses the Central Zone Neurologist and Red Deer Stroke Programs. We care for stroke and neurology patients from throughout the zone, with all nursing staff getting specially trained in caring for these patients. The unit also cares for a wide range of patient populations being treated by internal medicine and hospitalist physicians. The unit uses a Collaborative Care model with Registered Nurses (RNs), LPNs, and HCAs all working together to their full scope alongside a vast interdisciplinary team. The unit offers extensive educational opportunities and strives to provide stroke unit care equivalent to that of major urban centres. Mentorship, professional development, and the experiences with a wide array of patient populations can help nurses gain countless skills and work towards many different future career paths if desired. The unit also strives to provide new hires with a comprehensive orientation and continued emphasis on mentorship as staff grow and progress alongside their teammates. As with any acute care inpatient unit, every day looks different from the next. This means that members of the U33 family are patient, calm under pressure, organized, empathetic, and are that special kind of people that enjoy a little organized chaos in their work lives. If this describes you, come meet a whole unit of wonderful human beings just like you!Description:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
