This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) works collaboratively within an inter-professional team, providing a holistic approach (addressing bio, psycho, social, cultural, and spiritual needs), and comprehensive care for individuals, families, groups, populations and communities across the continuum of care. The RN independently provides safe, competent, compassionate, ethical nursing care to all patients with predictable and unpredictable outcomes and all levels of complexity, and ensures goals and needs are prioritized and individualized. Using nursing knowledge, critical thinking and clinical judgement, the RN engages in independent, interdependent and dependent functions to provide healthcare focusing on comprehensive assessment, patient/family education, and coordination of care. These functions may be self-determined, or assigned by physician or nurse practitioner, other RN or as part of team consultation and planning.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nurses
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN)
- Current Heart & Stroke BCLS certification
- Current WHMIS certification
- Minimum of one year acute care experience preferred
- Two years recent demonstrated continuing nursing education considered an asset
- Experience providing patient education to individuals and groups
- Certification in ACLS preferred
- Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention/willingness to enroll
- Ability to work independently and as an effective team member
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to complete current competencies in medical nursing
- Previous work attendance may be considered
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Registered Nurse
$35.2108 - $41.4848 hourly
$42.9366 with 25 years of RN experience
