This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals, families, groups, communities and populations across the life span. The RN is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of nursing care and provides clinical leadership particularly in complex or unpredictable patient/client care settings.

The RN has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide competent, evidenced based nursing practice and is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the plan of care to achieve patient/client outcomes. This individual supports the development of students and colleagues through acting as a preceptor and providing ongoing mentorship. In addition, the RN contributes to the efficient and effective functioning of the unit, coordination of patient care and staffing.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program and registered with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience preferred
  • BLS-C (HCP) certification is required
  • Demonstrates initiative and independent judgment in nursing practice
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills
  • Maintains awareness of current concepts in nursing
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Permanent, Part-time (50%) position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly

Shift work (including days, nights, evenings, weekends and holidays)

Salary Information

$35.2108 - $41.4848 hourly

$42.9366 with 25 years’ RN experience
