This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, and with the technical guidance of a cardiologist or other physician as required by circumstances of individual patients, the Registered Cardiology Technologist independently operates electrocardiographic equipment, ambulatory recorders/analyzers and treadmills/monitors for exercise testing to facilitate the assessment of the patient with cardiac and other disorders. The Technologist performs the full scope of technical functions related to the operation of equipment, monitoring of patients and interpretation of results to facilitate the assessment of patients. The Technologist may function independently as per Delegated Medical Acts, e.g. pace maker clinic, stress testing. The Technologist also supervises unregistered technologists in the performance of their duties.

The Registered Cardiology Technologist ensures that the principles and practices that guide the NSHA such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviors, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited program in Cardiology Technology with specialty training
  • Registered with Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT)
  • Eligible for registration with Cardiology Technologists Association of Nova Scotia (CTANS)
  • Recent related experience is required; advanced duties and delegated medical functions
  • Current BCLS and CPR
  • Computer proficiency

Hours of Work

Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly

Salary Information

$26.9186 - $28.9106 hourly
