Your Opportunity:

The Medicine Hat & Area - Stroke and Brain Injury Support Team (ESD) provides early supportive discharge to clients following hospitalization for stroke and/or brain injury. Collaborative plans are created with each client along with a team of rehabilitation professionals from various disciplines (occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, social work, recreation therapy and nursing). Plans are transdisciplinary in nature and supported by Therapy Assistants and clinical staff. This team travels up to one hour one-way to client’s homes so staff are required to have a vehicle available for business purposes and to use our fleet vehicle as well. This position also supports the Home Rehabilitation Team in our community - similar to the ESD team but for clients with other diagnoses requiring supported discharge and ongoing rehabilitation in their homes. If you are a team-based player with strong therapeutic recreation assessment and treatment planning skills who has a passion for client advocacy and thinking outside the realm of possibilities for your clients, this job is for you! The beautiful community of Medicine Hat is located in the sunny southeast corner of Alberta - only a few hours from both Calgary and Lethbridge but also only a couple of hours north of the USA. The community appeals to all interests as it offers arts and culture, sports and music entertainment, a shopping mall and endless outdoor activities to enjoy in the summer and winter months. Medicine Hat has all the amenities of a larger city without the hustle and bustle that is present in Calgary/Edmonton. If you are interested in working with a vibrant and innovative team, this may be the job for you!
