Real Estate Conveyancer

Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing legal and administrative support to lawyers with a focus on Post-Title Foreclosure Sales.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Communicate well and timely with clients and third party agents such as appraisers and realtors
  • Draft and/or review of documents including:

- conveyance documents;
- vendor transactions documents;
- trust letters;
- statements of adjustments;
- closing documents;
- associated reports and accounts

  • Prepare correspondence and reports
  • Prepare transfers / affidavit of transferees
  • Assist with document revisions as required
  • Maintain and file documents and associated databases
  • Handle and disburse funds
  • Prepare closing documents and attend to the post-foreclosure sales, including the distribution of sale proceeds
  • Communicate and report to clients’ mortgage insurers, including the preparation of claims to mortgage insurer
  • Prepare legal account and final reporting to client
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Possess a Legal Assistant / Paralegal Diploma
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in residential real estate or foreclosures
  • Experience preparing claims to mortgage insurers is a definite asset
  • Excellent organizational skills and proactive management of tasks to successfully meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of the rules of Court and Law Property Act as it relates to foreclosures is an asset
  • Experience with electronic document management systems is considered an asset
  • Act with discretion and good judgment in regard to confidentiality
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel)
  • Knowledge of FCT reporting program is an asset
  • Worldox knowledge and PC Law are considered an asset
  • Excellent organization and file management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex workloads with high attention to detail
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Competent in written and spoken English
