Critical Outcomes from the Job:

Key outcomes expected from this role are:

  • Manage transactional operational and procurement demands of ordering raw materials and packaging inventory/supplies for manufacturing activities base on an ERP MRP system.
  • Administer everyday activities of all purchasing staff and provide training to staff to ensure compliance and monitor all purchasing activities and design various cost-effective methods according to demands.
  • Directs the daily workflow and schedules of the department, coordinating staff involved in purchasing for vacation coverage and stepping in executing Sr. Buyer role when needed due staff absence.
  • Analyze all existing procedures for purchasing agents. Develop and implement a best practice transactional ordering process and a material safety stock replenishment program within the ERP system in collaboration with Operations.
  • Develop Purchasing policies and procedures. Formalize procedures for purchasing function including documentation of all standard operating procedures and improve reporting for excess or short inventory.
  • Conducts performance evaluations of purchasing staff that are timely and constructive. Recruit qualified staff, interviews, hires, and trains new staff. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Work directly with Procurement Specialists to oversee all supply contracts and agreements, share feedback about supplier’s performance and raise any potential supply risk from incumbent vendors
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with all suppliers and prepare reports and provide support to all managers to plan and execute all purchasing processes and provide an effective interface with all departments.
  • Support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies created by Procurement Specialists
  • Supervise all audit activities and evaluate all purchase orders and payment perform and assist to eliminate any discrepancy in same.
  • Coordinate major upgrades to ERP system, including user acceptance testing, resulting in improve operational effectiveness.
  • Align purchasing strategies with Business needs regarding budget and forecast
  • Support Sustainable Sourcing opportunities to be implemented through out Nature’s Path Supply Chain.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Graduation from a recognized university with specialization in Business Administration, Purchasing, Materials Management or the equivalent.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree desirable; preferably in planning and/or purchasing is an asset.

Experience

  • 5-7 years experience supervising a purchasing team in a CPG manufacturing setting
  • Must be knowledgeable with best practice purchasing strategies
  • Detail and service oriented with strong communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability in key software applications such as ERP systems, EXCEL, Power-point, and Word
