Purchasing Manager

This role directly reports to the National Buying Manager and is responsible for hiring, onboarding, training, and providing ongoing support to the Purchasing Analyst team,

Job Description

• Hire and manage a team of 5-10 purchasers
• Screen applicants and interview potential hires
• Effectively train/onboard new staff
• Provide leadership and ongoing training and support to staff
• Develop staff and provide frequent feedback
• Accountable for hitting daily/weekly/monthly targets
• Track team metrics (lead conversion, profit per unit, reconditioning estimates)
• Resolve escalations or customer complaints
• Coordinate effectively with other departments (accounting/admin/logistics)
• Innovate/improve existing processes and procedures

Skills and Qualifications:

• Call Centre or Dealership experience preferred but not required
• Strong leadership experience managing direct reports
• High level of accountability and ownership
• Effective communication and negotiation skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Willingness to learn and work at all levels to support department’s goals
• Ability to motivate a diverse workgroup
• Self-starter
• Ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize
• Sales background is a strong asset
