Working with the Public Affairs & Corporate Communications team, you will assist with the implementation of the organization’s corporate communications, public affairs and government relations strategies, as they relate to emerging business priorities like payments and digital innovation, open banking, digital ID & authentication, transit and mobility and more.

You will…
  • Support public relations and government relations strategies designed to proactively influence, educate and inform key stakeholder audiences of Interac corporate priorities. Tasks may include: Identifying key government stakeholders and assisting in drafting letters to targeted officials
  • Provide research on the impact of policies, initiatives, trends and issues in the government and stakeholder communities to internal and external partners.

Tasks may include: Gathering intelligence on government priorities impacting Interac and drafting research reports intended for internal stakeholders
  • Assist in the development of material for government and stakeholder engagement including presentations, briefing notes and other communications collateral to promote corporate direction and enhance organizational profile.

Tasks may include: Designing PowerPoint presentations, updating and personalizing letters and briefing material
  • Assist in promoting executive and corporate thought leadership through digital content channels.

Tasks may include: Generating story ideas and helping to write content for our digital channels, streamlining public affairs workstream by maintaining and updating a content calendar
  • Be part of an integrated Corporate Communications & Sponsorships team, working cross-functionally with other departments including Enterprise Initiatives & External Affairs, Commercial and Innovation Labs and New Ventures.

Tasks may include: Supporting departmental initiatives with communications needs when necessary

You’re great at…
  • Implementing tactics associated with key communications strategies including writing, editing, media support, digital content and research.
  • Monitoring and understanding trends in politics and government and being able to succinctly capture the summary and impact via briefing notes, email and verbal updates.
  • Using different digital communication mediums: written, video, etc. and the platforms associated, including WordPress, social media platforms and associated analytics.
  • Reporting on program milestones, opportunities and metrics.
  • Providing administrative support and quickly learning new technologies and platforms.
  • Juggling multiple projects and deadlines and being flexible when priorities shift.

You Have…
  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on business, communications, public affairs, political science or journalism.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Excellent project management skills with a high-level of accountability for quality and timely completion of projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and desire to learn and grow.
  • Strong web skills, including experience with CMS, Sharepoint and/or HTML.
  • Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Efficient researching skills.

Must Have Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills with a high-level of accountability for quality and timely completion of projects
  • Interest in public policy and government
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong independent thinker but also works well with others

Nice To Have Skills
  • Previous experience in the world of finance/fintech or related education
