Position Overview:
The City of Kitchener is seeking candidates to fill temporary labourer positions in the Roads and Traffic division.

Responsibilities:
  • Asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads.
  • Concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes.
  • Cleaning up garbage and debris from streets, sidewalks and alleys in the Downtown core, as well as on City & Regional roadways, city-owned property, bush & dense bush areas and parkland.
  • Winter work including snow plowing and salting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
  • Must have a Grade 12 diploma or GED.
  • Must have demonstrated communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records.
  • Must be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills.
  • Must be able to perform a wide variety of duties including manual labour.
  • Must possess a valid DZ driver’s license in good standing.
  • Must be a competent person as defined by the Ontario Health & Safety Act.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Must have an ability to participate as an effective team member.

Candidates selected for hire will be required to provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract dated no earlier than 30 days prior to their hire date as a condition of employment.

Candidates may be required to complete and pass on-line testing and training prior to their start date.
