Job Summary



We are looking for a Sustainability Manager, who will be responsible for leading and delivering our regional sustainability roadmap as well as optimizing sustainability expenses in our factories across Americas (North-, Central, and South America).
In this role, you will be in charge of effective project planning and delivery as well as safety and effective stakeholder management.
The position will be with Tetra Pak Canada Inc, based in our Toronto, Canada office; located at 20 De Boers Dr Suite 420, North York, ON M3J 0H1, Canada.
This role is with Tetra Pak Canada Inc.
You will be travelling up to 25% of your time.
This is a permanent position.

SALARY: CAD$120,000.00 per year- CAD$150,000 per year

What you will do


  • Lead the development and implementation of the regional site sustainability & net zero operations roadmaps and have full ownership of the program from the scoping until the implementation, including working cross-functionally with subject matter experts.
  • Define, prioritize, and plan the resources and technical requirements needed for programs to be delivered on time (regarding Carbon & Energy, Water Stewardship, Biodiversity, Circularity, Building (e.g. LEED and others))
  • In collaboration with manufacturing leaders influence the regional sustainability agenda and investments. Be an active contributor in the Global Environmental Master Pillar with participation in regional workstreams.
  • Act as regional leader to review, identify and report gaps (metering, monitoring, and reporting data), and to evaluate trends and performance vs. water, energy, and carbon reduction targets. Secure regional wide water, energy and carbon emissions data reporting is completed accurately in accordance with internal and external requirements.
  • Be single point of contact and act as the subject-matter expert for sustainability internally with the capability to engage, educate and inspire. With a particular focus on creating and build understanding of net zero Roadmap internally. Define and develop "Zero is possible" mindset across manufacturing, facility management and real estate departments, with clear, precise, and regular communication with all stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with Sustainability Project Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of regional sustainability investment plans, OPEX/CAPEX decisions.
  • In alignment with global energy solutions manager, support and ensure seamless delivery of regional renewable energy initiatives such as RECs (Renewable Energy Certificates), PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements), Onsite Solar PV.
  • Measures: Site CO2 footprint, Energy reduction, Water stewardship implementation & water reduction, Waste to landfill reduction. Site Sustainability expenses. Return on investments.

We believe you have


  • BA/BSc in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering or related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: Masters in Sustainability Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Policy, or other Sustainability-focused advanced degree.
  • At least 8 years’ relevant working experience as serving as an environmental /sustainability manager, or program manager.
  • Experience successfully implementing sustainability programs, Proven experience in Program Management in manufacturing organizations.
  • Understanding of the climate, SBT, Water Stewardship agenda (including AWS compliance & certification).
  • Knowledge or experience in the biodiversity agenda.
  • Knowledge of the UN’s sustainable development goals and Environmental, Social Governance agendas.
  • Passion for sustainability and possess demonstrable experience in a sustainability focused role.
  • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically.
  • You will also be a great people person and enjoy connecting, building relationships and networks inside and outside the organization.
  • You’ll need to be a self-motivated individual who enjoys a challenge and the ability to work with the leaders of the Tetra Pak operations by providing your expertise in sustainability and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with senior management (Directors and VP’s)
  • Experience leading change in multiple site environments and the ability to influence those that are not direct reports or within your organization
  • Fluent in English
