SHIPPER’S ASSISTANT DUTIES:

Reporting to the Shipper, the Shipper’s Assistant will support the Production and Shipping departments:

• Constructionand assembly of various crates, skids and shipping modules. This requires the use of power- and hand-tools, tape measure, table saw and other construction skills. Construction is the primary function for this position.
• 40 hours per week, dayshift.
• Final packaging of palletized loads for shipping, using hand- and power-strapping tools, shrink wrap, tape guns, etc.
• Daily clean of work areas including break-down and palletizing of empty shipping containers for re-use or recycle, emptying of garbage bins. Safe and proficient forklift operation is required.
• Assist shipper with incoming raw material and packaging receipt, storage, and inventory management.
• Provide shipping and receiving coverage whenever the shipper is away (lunch, vacation, etc.)
• General duties as may be assigned to assist with production or shipping requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Reliable and conscientious
• Able to follow oral (English) and written instructions, including material cut lists, assembly instructions, order picking and shipping paperwork.
• Attention to Detail. Orders must be picked correctly and shipping according to written instructions.
• Basic math and measurement skills. Note, we will test this as part of our interview process.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 55 lbs / 25 kg.
• Effective time management, accomplish goals with minimal supervision, helpful attitude, organized
• Proficient use of basic hand- and power-tools including: tape measure, Skilsaw, table saw, framing stapler, drill.
• Safe and capable forklift operator, including valid certificate.
• Some elevated work requiring the use of stairways, ladders or portable stairs.
• Work boots required ($100/year allowance provided)

Salary: $20.00 per hour

• 8 hour shift

• Monday to Friday
• No weekends

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Coquitlam, BC V3K 3V5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
