The Role

In this newly created Senior Program Manager, Leadership Development role, we are looking for an experienced, collaborative leadership facilitator and program manager to identify and build ApplyBoard’s management and leadership development solutions, addressing leaders and managers greatest challenges. Working closely in partnership with the Head of Global Leadership & OD, HRBPs, senior leaders and our learning design team, you will build high-trust relationships and identify, plan, design, develop, implement and assess scalable management development programming and initiatives as well as targeted leadership development programs and custom solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to help one of Canada’s fastest-growing EdTech firms establish a unified leadership (behavioural) standard for all AB people managers globally, effectively enabling our managers and leaders to grow and develop their people at every level in the organization. This is a key strategic role creating the programs, tools, processes and experiences which help our leaders keep pace with the continued growth of the business, protect and strengthen our culture and create a winning ApplyBoard employee experience globally.

The ideal candidate is a strong relationship builder with a bias for action, strong experience building and leading in-person leadership skill building workshops, team development events, virtual learning experiences and on-demand learning resources. You are a collaborative program manager with a growth mindset, global orientation, cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively across cultures and geographies to gain support for and deliver global programming and development solutions.

What you’ll be doing every day:

  • Member of global Learning & Talent Development team who partners closely with senior leaders, People & Culture (HRBPs), managers across the organization; builds a clear understanding of the key challenges, opportunities and skill gaps facing our emerging leaders, team leads, managers and senior leadership
  • Builds and conducts a leadership needs assessment (LNA) to identify, plan, design, develop, implement and assess scalable management development programming and initiatives as well as targeted leadership development programs and custom solutions, in partnership with our learning design team.
  • Partners closely with the Global Head of Leadership & OD, executive team, P&C leadership team and senior leaders to co-develop a unified leadership (behavioural) standard for all AB people managers globally; leads/manages the development of ApplyBoard’s Careers (Competency) Framework.
  • Works in partnership with peers and senior leaders across each key business unit to identify key performance, skills & knowledge gaps, prioritizing actions and creating business-driven development solutions
  • Program manager for all leadership/management development curriculum and programming for organization; owns the strategy, content development and delivery of all manager and leadership development programs within global Talent Development offering.
  • Assesses learning and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers, facilitators/trainers, and subject matter experts.
  • Creates and/or partners within learning, talent development and internal teams to develop or curate a leadership toolkit to support key leadership practices, processes, guides, job aids, digital learning assets and course materials.
  • Facilitates in-person and virtual leadership development workshops, management development courses and programs using a variety of instructional formats including group discussion, case study, business simulations, lecture, videos to ensure engagement, knowledge transfer and measurable skill development take place
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless integration of new manager/leadership development solutions within existing learning & talent development offerings.
  • Coaches leaders to live our company values and culture, deliver A+ customer experiences and employee experiences and help their team members grow and develop
  • Highly skilled at coaching and debriefing personal psychometric profile reports (ie. DISC, Insights Discovery, MBTI) and leading team effectiveness workshops
  • Assesses leadership development solutions and training materials; develops appropriate mechanisms to measure learning impact.
  • Evaluate the business impact of leadership programs using learning and performance metrics; tracks training activity in global LMS (Workday)
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends and research in the leadership and talent development industry.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Adult Training & Development, Organizational Behaviour, Psychology, Education or equivalent, ideally within a hyper-growth, fast scaling technology organization.
  • Prior people management experience an asset.
  • At least 8 years of experience in leadership development, management training, learning design and group facilitation.
  • Strong consulting experience ideally with ability to influence and manage upwards.
  • Proven expertise conducting learning needs assessments, analyzing and prioritizing manager and leadership development needs linked to needed business outcomes
  • Certified in psychometric assessment tools an asset (ie. DISC, Insights Discovery, MBTI)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; operates well across geographies.
  • Strong program/project management and group facilitation skillset.
  • Works well in hyper-growth environments; executes with in ambiguity.
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
  • Ability to design and implement effective learning and development experiences.
  • Extremely proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools and/or software.
  • Experience tracking training events/activity within LMS (Workday Learning) an asset.
