Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Partner, Strategy & Operations, BDO’s Management Consulting practice is looking for a Senior Manager, Strategy & Operations – Insuranceto join our growing national practice with the ability to work anywhere in Canada. This individual will be responsible for the practice growth and delivery of our Insurance Strategy & Operations services and will own the following responsibilities:


Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities


  • Manage and develop a high-quality delivery team, working with clients to solve complex business problems in various areas including corporate strategy formulation, business planning, market research and evaluation, product and/or service development, positioning & implementation strategy.
  • Develop business opportunities with new and existing BDO clients individually and as part of cross functional pursuit teams, including thought leadership and marketing innovation to grow your and BDO’s presence in the local business community.
  • A catalyst for business development growth within the insurance industry and broader financial services
  • Active engagement as a key member of BDO’s National Insurance Team responsible for the development of BDO’s go-to-market strategies, intellectual property and practice development initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with our Technology Practice (such as data analytics, workplace modernization, cloud services, etc.) to provide solutions that encompass strategy to execution.
  • Develop informative, compelling and persuasive client-facing project deliverables, presentations and collateral materials using your command of publishing resources (including but not limited to Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Ongoing management of practice key success factors, ongoing targets and client engagements.

What are we looking for in a successful candidate?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business and/or related field, or equivalent experience (MBA Preferred)
  • Preferably 7+ years as a management consultant, experienced working with financial services clients to solve problems to identify and engage critical stakeholders, identify opportunities, improve performance, address growth challenges, set and/or support strategic direction
  • Proven insurance industry-related experience across the domains of property and casualty (p&c), life or health insurance. Experience in p&c and life is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the insurance industry and related business operations. Experience in the areas of actuarial evaluations, investment decision-making, adjudication and/or guidewire software would be an asset.
  • Proven success with enabling transformational operational projects within the insurance industry.
  • Verifiable track record of achieving revenue targets through business development, managing complex projects on time and budget, and leading cross-functional teams with soft-skills
  • Professional designation is an asset (CMC, PMP, CPA etc.)
  • Bonus points for digital acumen including coding and/or business intelligence skills
