Purpose of the Job
The Senior Manager, Governance & Delivery Enablement reports directly to the Senior Director, Delivery & Productivity (D&P). You will play a critical leadership role by being the primary point of accountability for owning, establishing and maturing the delivery and governance frameworks. These frameworks are to provide greater visibility, risk management and monitoring of project & portfolio performance to support better decision making at all levels throughout the organization. You will evolve and continually improve the interdependencies between business models and operating practices, integrating waterfall, agile and hybrid-agile delivery methods into one cohesive, fit for purpose, delivery strategy to meet business needs & outcomes.
You will work with D&P stakeholders and organizational leadership, to evolve and gain consensus around the strategic vision, associated value focused missions and the role of D&P to foster a Challenger Bank culture and mindset for both project and product centric delivery.
This role will also lead a team of analysts focused on providing day-to-day effective and timely monitoring and management of the project & portfolio performance, support of critical portfolio governance activities, and training / support for D&P stakeholders when evolving delivery & governance frameworks.
You will help create and maintain a high performance culture with the D&P team that includes a strong focus on streamlining and simplifying the way we deliver.

Main Activities

    • Build and maintain a roadmap of continuous improvement opportunities in collaboration with D&P stakeholders and organizational leadership and facilitate lessons learned workshops and stakeholder interviews to determine areas of opportunity
    • Drive efficiency, remove overhead, and re-evaluate how to drive best in class methodologies/frameworks (waterfall, agile, hybrid-agile) and related artifacts that expedite risk managed business outcomes
    • Act as a thought leader in emerging delivery methods and practices (e.g. agile) including scaled agile (e.g. SAFe, LeSS, DAD), understanding the need to adapt the theory to a sustained practice
    • Regularly engage with the bank’s control partners to ensure that updates to enterprise policies and standards are assessed against D&P procedures and methodologies with necessary updates incorporated and rolled out in a timely & effective manner
    • Act as Product Owner of our enterprise Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software including the integrated project intake module
    • Regularly review project intake requests, in-flight projects and project pipeline with cross-functional stakeholders for continuous alignment and understanding of interdependencies
    • Influence and train delivery roles/practitioners to help drive improved efficiency and outcomes
    • Lead the identification and development of D&P roles, team configuration and recruitment appropriate to deliver the agreed-upon D&P goals and objectives
    • Collaborate with D&P leadership to create and maintain the right mind-set, culture and high levels of engagement
    • project portfolio roster with financial and non-financial attributes
    • Manage and publish regular dashboards and reports that provide right level of transparency on data, insights, and KPIs to drive effective decision making and areas of opportunity
    • Manage early detection and reporting of compliance gaps through regular spot checks and health checks including guidance on how to remediate and act as primary point of contact for Audit to effectively address findings and course correct any gaps
    • Support ongoing development of business level communications, training, governance, control, reporting and change execution across the D&P teams
    • Foster a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective and consistent processes in alignment with the bank’s risk appetite

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

    • At least 6-10 years’ experience managing programs and projects with different priority levels through the entire life cycle including at least 5 years of agile delivery
    • Experience as an Agile coach considered a strong asset
    • At least 5 years’ experience owing, interacting with and/or managing Portfolio Project Management (PPM) tools
    • Strong data and analytical skills
    • Proficiency with MS Office suite and emerging reporting visualization tools such as Power BI, SharePoint and Visio in order to build training and reporting for different audiences
    • Ability to synthesize and present information and key themes to different levels
    • Post-secondary education (diploma/degree) preferably in computer science, business, finance, or comparable discipline
    • People management/leadership and coaching/mentorship experience is a major asset
    • Experience building efficient teams that can deliver tangible value
    • PMP and agile related certification is strongly preferred
    • Business process improvement, ITIL or change management certification considered an asset
    • Experienced process improvement/change agent with the ability to identify areas for streamlining and efficiencies, and sustain recommendations for continuous improvement
    • Advanced facilitation, influence management, and consensus building skills
    • Team player with ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners
