About Our Opportunity


Reporting to the Director, as the Senior Data Analyst you will have the unique opportunity to help shape, guide, and support the future direction of the continuing care system within the province. You will work closely with a high-performing team to provide expert research, data analysis and strategic advice to the Director and the senior management of the Department.


Primary Accountabilities


  • Improve the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of health system data assets through the development and implementation of a data quality framework.
  • Support the development of key performance indicators of health system performance.
  • Engaging colleagues within Seniors and Long-Term Care, Health and Wellness, and stakeholders to understand data assets and user needs.

Qualifications and Experience


You will have a Bachelors’ degree with 7 years of analytics related experience; an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.


As the successful candidate you must be self-directed, a problem solver, work independently and as a member of a team, and value a diverse and inclusive workplace. The ability to exercise professional discretion, manage competing interests, and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships are critical. You are a critical thinker with the ability to prioritize and action work under tight timelines and exercising sound judgement under pressure. You have the business acumen and passion to question and understand the data to create valuable insights.


You have strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy while balancing priorities. Experience leading analytics projects and gathering information requirements with a strategic alignment to department and government priorities should be clearly outlined in your cover letter and resume.


In addition, you also possess the following:


  • Report and dashboard design and development experience with IBM Cognos Analytics
  • Proven knowledge of a wide range of analytical tools and supporting technology (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Oracle, SQL Server, Python, R, SAS, Excel, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience using Excel functions (creating queries, data validation, extracting value on large datasets)
  • Experience building/optimizing data management and governance processes
  • Experience in areas of process improvement and survey data analysis

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.


Equivalency


An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Equivalencies may include, but are not limited to:


  • A completed Masters degree and 5 years of related experience

Most of your time is spent in a comfortable office setting. You will have daily contact with various internal and external stakeholders. The scope of this role requires strong abilities in multi-tasking, balancing multiple priorities, meeting frequent deadlines, and making time sensitive recommendations.

Pay Grade: PR 15

Salary Range: $2,588.45 - $3,155.27 Bi-Weekly
