About The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Group Retirement Consultant responsible for ensuring overall client satisfaction and retention of our clients by providing day-to-day exceptional client service. This position is also responsible for managing and overseeing a block of CAP clients including the duties of managing the value of consulting time-related to compensation received for each client (profitability analysis). The successful candidate will be personable, capable, and hard-working with a desire to learn and work both independently and as part of a very tight-knit team.

What You’ll Do

  • Follow industry best practices (CAP Guidelines) and applicable federal/provincial legislation when providing recommendations and insight related to plan governance and plan management at the direction of the SVP, Retirement Services
  • Learn and follow established NFP client service culture and processes and abide by SalesForce (internal client relationship management) processes
  • Interact with clients on an ongoing basis in person (or virtually), via email and phone calls to ensure the establishment and ongoing growth and development of the client relationship liaising with insurance carriers as necessary to provide timely and creative solutions
  • Participate in and be involved in the preparation of annual review reports to be presented at client meetings with or without coordination with the insurance carrier partners
  • Manage workload for your client assignments and assist other team members with client servicing needs, including education/presentations to plan member groups
  • Coordinate and participate/assist to develop employee education sessions for group retirement plan clients’ needs – encourage ongoing employee engagement efforts to better position members toward retirement goals and understanding of investments, etc
  • Work with prospects to develop new business opportunities within the group retirement (and benefit) departments in order to grow our business
  • Make recommendations for changes to plan design, pricing of plan investments/recordkeeping fees and manage group retirement plan marketing / tendering process as needed and assist the client with any new developments affecting their plan and plan members including plan transitions between carriers
  • Keep current with industry trends, benchmarking data, and legislation

What You Bring

  • Willingness to have fun at work and create a warm and friendly relationship with our clients is essential!
  • College or university graduate, or equivalent business experience
  • Valid LLQP (will be required to obtain if not already in place)
  • Completion of the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation (RPA) an asset
  • Typically, five years’ experience within the group retirement insurance industry, preferably within customer service or account management. Alternatively, experience within the Financial Planning/Insurance industry
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • A passion for investing with a strong understanding of capital markets would be beneficial
  • Ability to present capital market concepts and understand investment performance results would be ideal for this role
  • Strong knowledge and experience related to group plan investment options/plans (i.e., pensions, RRSPs, DPSPs, and TFSAs) and the investment categories required to build a solid investment lineup for group plan members
  • Excellent listener and communicator with project management, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • A positive attitude and works well as a member of a team
  • Strength in the application of computer skills; including Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strength in quality, detail orientation and mathematical aptitude
  • Commitment to providing excellence in client service experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high level of activity while maintaining exceptional client focus and strong professional acumen
