Sales Manager Overview

Our Sales Manager is responsible for leading our business both with national retail partners and with their regional team in Alberta and BC. This leader will bring an entrepreneurial and forward-thinking mindset to owning top-down strategy in sales, marketing, segmentation, and supply chain initiatives with assigned accounts and reports. He / She will earn trust and respect of our retail partners by delivering strategic direction that will create mutually profitable and long-term sustainable partnerships. This business leader will work closely with Canadian team and global brand partners to ensure best in class execution of all key product and marketing initiatives.

Primary Duties

Expectations of Sales Manager Role

  • Become an expert on understanding our target consumer and based on this consumer understanding, direct brand on how we deliver the right product & marketing to the right retailer
  • Decision maker and first point of contact for all sales activity in the Western Region, including specific national accounts.
  • Develop and execute territory specific GTM seasonal plans ensuring sales targets and goals are achieved
  • Be a trusted business adviser and leader through clear seasonal plans – including recommended product assortment, related marketing and sales operation support
  • Drive top line retail sell through with our accounts – our business grows when our brand delivers improved sell through at both B&M and Ecom
  • Work closely with Canada Finance in taking lead ownership role of P/ L for our western Canadian business with objective to deliver profit improvements for both our retailers & Merrell Canada
  • Clear focus on Story Telling – make the big, bigger. Work with Merrell Canada Marketing Manager to develop & deliver creative and engaging activations both at B&M and Ecom
  • Work closely with Regional Merchandise Manager on consumer-based product and market segmentation strategy
  • Bring forward thinking approach & relevant experience on how Merrell brand will thrive in new retail environment shifting to increasing importance of Ecom sales and marketing
  • Understanding of the balance between brand wholesale partnerships with retailers & our own Direct to Consumer platforms. How to leverage and maximize both opportunities
  • Work closely with General Manager in developing overall Canada Strategic Business Plan

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Minimum five years of sales management and/or key account management experience preferably within footwear industry
  • Proven leadership skills in driving top line revenue, margin improvements and execution of national marketing initiatives and large scale operational projects
  • Forward thinking mind set with strong background in developing and executing strategic business plans & delivering professional presentations to internal and external partners
  • Proven ability to build & communicate well thought compelling strategies that engage & influence key stakeholders
  • A motivated self- starter who competes hard and has demonstrated abilities to excel and contribute in team environments as well as taking full ownership of individual projects
  • Ability and confidence to quickly earn trust and respect of retailers and internal influencers at all levels of management
