The Role:

The Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator is responsible for maintaining inventory levels, working with vendors and suppliers for the purchase of new inventory, completing paperwork and maintaining up to date records as it relates to the stock levels.

The Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for inventory levels, mix of product and availability to support sales and service activities
  • Creates weekly cycle count schedule to ensure accuracy on all 6000 SKUs that are sold
  • Implements and executes purchasing plan that encompasses all product SKUs sold
  • Remains up to date and aware of all supplier requirements to meet minimums and prepaid freight policies
  • Ensures inventory levels are accurate by making timely adjustments, executing cycle counts and supervising receipt of shipments
  • Liaises and communicates with Customer Service Supervisor regarding warehouse organization and labour needed on a weekly basis
  • Responsible for the timely input of special orders and receipt of product generated by Sales team to support sales volumes
  • Responsible for setting inventory controls to ensure backorders are minimized while inventory levels are maintained at reasonable levels
  • Responsible for budgeting inventory levels, inventory turns, and all tasks related to inventory management
  • Responsible for ensuring that the company’s policies and procedures for purchasing and inventory operations are adhered to, and that inventory waste is kept to a minimum
  • Responsible for keeping excellent records electronically and manually ensuring smooth purchasing and inventory operations are maintained
  • Responsible for providing to management: vendors’, customers’, employees’, and other business associate’s feedback
  • Responsible for ensuring proper maintenance of warehouse areas, both inside and outside.

The Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 - 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, and other computer technologies
  • Passionate and a keen desire for results
  • Good negotiation skills and a high numerical aptitude
  • Ability to work cohesively with employees, suppliers, and managers as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills
