Position Description

As Product Engineering Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to provide leadership and technical expertise in the design, development and support of an entire product portfolio of world class geotechnical products. You will work with cross-functional product development teams, as well as Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing divisions. Your success will be underscored by your technical intuition and inquisitive nature, quality prioritization, team collaboration skills, and open and approachable communication style.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for leading a talented and passionate team by engaging and inspiring a high level of contribution and quality through effective project management and coordination of all activities in the following areas:

• Budgeting oversight to ensure to ensure on time, on budget delivery of complex technical projects.
• Designing, implementing, and refining product development, validation, and testing processes.
• Translating high level product requirements into technical specifications for the development team.
• Coordinating the implementation of new products with a wide variety of stakeholders including the product management, sales, and field service teams.
• Communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including senior management and supporting sales on customer calls
• Assuring that processes meet quality and applicable regulatory guidelines, including CE, EAC and other international requirements.
• Providing guidance, support and mentorship to intermediate/junior engineering team members and encourages professional technical development.
• Participating in ISO auditing processes to ensure compliance with and assist in improving internal quality and the QMS.
• Working with the Director of Engineering to define and support key performance indicators
  

Qualification And Skills

• 8+ years experience in electrical/electronic product design
• Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously
• Expert-level knowledge of technical hardware, software product design.
• Experience using Arena PLM and Epicor ERP software tools is an asset
• Good understanding of Design FMEA, DFM, GD&T and drafting standards
• Practical experience with APQP/PPAP processes
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Organized and self-motivated in a fast-paced environment. Write clear and concise technical summaries.
• Leadership, teambuilding, and mentoring skills
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
• Lean and Six Sigma certification preferred
• Application knowledge in Geotechnical instruments and industry is definitely an asset
