We are looking for innovative, talented, and energetic people to help bring our Loblaw Technology game to the next level. This is an exciting time to join our team – we are changing the game in a big way! If you are looking to join a company that offers unlimited opportunity, excellent leadership, world-class training and makes a big impact on the community – this is the role you’ve been waiting for!

Your impact

As a Co-op Product Designer on the LT Software Engineering team, you will be involved with design initiatives with direct business impact and complexity across Loblaw. You will collaborate closely with your cross-functional team to identify and frame problems, then ideate on and test best-in-class solutions by prototyping and validating valuable digital experiences. This will include working closely with technical leads, product owners, project managers and business stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Bring art direction and design finesse to the digital product world: combine brand guidelines with systems thinking to help our products be beautiful, functional and AA accessible.
  • Create alignment: share and collaborate with different types of designers (marketing, content, product, etc.) to deliver thoughtful, consistent experiences.
  • Advocate for design solutions, highlighting inputs that influenced the decisions including business and user goals, demographic and usage data, and research findings.
  • Develop high level, detailed storyboards, wireframes, user flows, mock-ups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
  • Work alongside engineers, product managers and stakeholders throughout all stages of the production cycle.
  • Create all required design artifacts for front-end developers to implement.
  • Design and conduct concept and usability tests on your design ideas, as well as use the findings to refine your ideas.
  • Develop and maintains detailed user-interface specifications.

Does this sound like you?

  • You are always learning and growing. Not one to rest on your laurels, you actively seek out things outside your comfort zone.
  • Your abilities to frame problems and opportunities to address customer or business.
  • You’re always looking to support your team, deliver projects and engage with the business.
  • Your ability to use design as a tool to uncover what questions to ask, what solutions to explore, and how to define and measure success.
  • You love the problem, not your solutions. Your design practice is grounded in the acknowledgement that every solution is a hypothesis built on assumptions and that those hypotheses and assumptions need to be tested and validated.

What You’ll Need

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a strong rationale for design decisions.
  • Strong inter-personal skills including ability to work in a cross-functional environment
  • Excellent understanding of the agile principles and methodologies.
  • Decisive, confident, and experience with influencing others.
  • Strong sense of urgency and personal commitment.
