Produce Clerk

Position:

Red River Co-op is recruiting for the position of Produce Clerk at our Seasons of Tuxedo Food Store, located at 755 Sterling Lyon Parkway in Winnipeg, MB.

Essential responsibilities of the Produce Clerk include but are not limited to the following:

• Cutting up an arrangement of fruits and vegetables to package into various sizes platters.
• Preparing and packaging various sized stir fry mixes.
• Maintaining sections of merchandise as assigned in an effective manner. Ensuring first-in, first-out rotation is followed at all times, and that close-dated product is reported to the Produce Manager.
• Packaging fresh goods including fruit platters, veggie platters, stir fry mixes, etc.
• Following established procedures for trimming and preparation, washing, culling and quality policing, and price marking.
• Assisting the Produce Manager in ordering duties and inventory control. Advising him or her of out-of-stocks or special requests from customers. Notifying him or her of excessive spoilage, damage or shortages.
• Performing general housekeeping duties to ensure department image and safety standards are followed. Ensuring sanitation and cleanliness standards are to Co-op specifications, including cleaning of all equipment and display cases.
• A full responsibility list will be provided to candidates selected for interviews.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have experience in a retail produce department, filling, rotating and culling fresh fruits and vegetables, cutting and preparing platters and mixes, as well experience working with floral products. Experience preparing value added items an asset.
